CISPP Objectives are

To promote carnival to the wider community across the county of Somerset and beyond

To raise awareness of the historical importance of carnival in Somerset

To promote learning of how our Somerset Illuminated Carnivals differ from other carnivals

To take an archive out into the rural community so that people can experience and enjoy the heritage and culture of illuminated carnivals

To promote learning in schools of carnival arts, skills and heritage

To explore a wide range of disciplinary approaches to educational research and the relevance of disciplines such as Sociology, History Heritage and Philosophy for undertaking research into educational importance in community settings

To promote cultural opportunities within the art-form of carnival for older and elderly people

To create DVD’s within an educational programme to explain to a range of audiences the experience of carnival participation

To stimulate local and international tourism through Somerset Carnival

To obtain feedback from the public as to how they would like to take an active-part and help us to improve our facilities in this wide ranging carnival project

To build strong partnerships for Somerset Carnivals
